Tui produced interactive calculators and product related games as part of the Halifax 'Branch of the Future' programme. Our vision was two-fold; firstly we wanted to drive down the cost of deployment by designing-out embedded systems and centrally managing standard PCs running standard software. The cost savings and the added flexibility of a managed network enabled us to deliver the second part of our vision which was to make each interactive device serve a single purpose. The usability benefits of doing this were tremendous - customers did not need to understand how or why they should navigate to an application, they just walked up to it and started interacting.

This innovative approach to hardware and software design allowed us not only to perform daily rate updates and timely product changes but also to entirely change the content of any of the screens as appropriate. The core ideas behind this development are now being built into new Tui initiatives.
